What We Do?

Hatha yoga

Hatha yoga is a comprehensive yoga practice that combines physical postures and breath control to promote physical and mental well-being. The primary goal of Hatha yoga is to achieve harmony and balance in the mind, body, and spirit.

Vinyasa

Vinyasa yoga is a style of yoga that emphasizes the connection between movement and breath, with a focus on flowing sequences of poses. It can be a great way to build strength, flexibility, and endurance, as well as to improve balance and coordination.

Ashtanga

Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic and athletic form of hatha yoga that consists of six series or levels. Ashtanga yoga promotes both physical fitness and mental clarity, making it a holistic practice that fosters inner peace. Ashtanga yoga is known for its ability to help students develop self-discipline and establish a regular yoga practice.

Yin

Yin yoga is a style of yoga that involves long-held, passive poses targeting the deep connective tissues of the body, such as the ligaments, fascia, and joint. How to start your yoga journey?

Starting yoga can be a wonderful journey towards physical and mental well-being. Here are some steps to help you get started:

Set Your Intention

Determine why you want to practice yoga. Whether it’s for flexibility, stress relief, fitness, or spiritual growth, clarifying your intention will help guide your practice.

Find a Suitable Space

Choose a quiet and comfortable space to practice where you can move freely without distractions. You may use a yoga holiday resort like Insight Resort, yoga center, community center, or even your own home.

Start with Basic Poses

Begin with beginner-friendly poses that focus on building strength, flexibility, and balance. Some common poses for beginners include Mountain Pose, Downward-Facing Dog, Warrior I, and Child’s Pose.

Take It Slow

Listen to your body and take your time. Start with shorter sessions, such as 15-30 minutes, and gradually increase the duration as you build strength and endurance. Remember that yoga is a practice of self-compassion and progress at your own pace.

Focus on Breath Awareness

Pay attention to your breath throughout your practice. Deep, mindful breathing helps calm the mind, increase body awareness, and promote better relaxation. Practice breathing exercises such as Ujjayi breathing or alternate nostril breathing.

Practice Regularly

Consistency is key to reaping the benefits of yoga. Aim to practice yoga at least 2-3 times per week or as frequently as your schedule allows. Even short daily sessions can be beneficial.

Listen to Your Body

Honor your body’s capabilities and limitations. Never force or strain yourself into a pose. If something doesn’t feel right, modify or skip the pose altogether.

Stay Hydrated and Eat Mindfully

Drink plenty of water before and after your practice to stay hydrated. Eat a light meal a few hours before practicing yoga to avoid feeling too full or uncomfortable during your session.

Seek Guidance and Progression

As you become more comfortable with the basics, consider seeking guidance from an experienced yoga teacher in our yoga holiday resort in Ahangama to help you progress and deepen your practice. They can provide personalized advice and teach you more advanced poses and techniques. (You can also find us on BookRetreats.com. )

Yoga Mats

A yoga mat provides a stable and comfortable surface to practice on, cushioning your joints and providing grip for better balance and stability during poses

Blocks or Bricks

Yoga blocks or bricks are props that can be used to modify and support various poses. They assist in achieving proper alignment, especially for those who may have limited flexibility or need additional support.

Straps

Yoga straps are helpful for participants who have difficulty reaching certain poses due to limited flexibility or tightness in muscles. Straps can be used to extend your reach and hold poses comfortably.

Bolsters

Bolsters are firm yet supportive pillows that can be used to provide comfort and help in relaxing during restorative poses or meditation. They can also assist in deepening stretches

Blankets

Quality yoga blankets can provide additional cushioning, warmth, and support during your practice. They can be used to sit on, support the body, cushion joints, or to provide warmth during final relaxation

Eye pillows

Eye pillows are used for relaxation and to block out light during restorative poses or meditation. They can help to calm the mind and promote deep relaxation
